A Sense of Place
Next seriesIn this series I am interested in the depiction of figures within various places. I see the figure and the environment working together, as a configuration of elements set against and activated by each other. My aim is to make each space my own, where any activity within it is possible. This series may transport the viewer in and out of a time, place, bearing towards a disorientating and fantastical reality, but these pictures look hard at absolute reality, the reality of our corporeal existence within a contained place.
“Lacroix asks us to imagine body and space as one, she warps each into a synthesised singularity, where the floating hair and stretching limbs form as much of an impermanent artifice as the peeling wallpaper, dusty bathroom tiles and winding staircase. She asks not to be viewed as an occupier of what has already been built, but instead as part of it: another corner, pillar, post or texture.”
